How did we meet?

We met at a party at the Bell ‘n’ Hand in Faneuil Hall. We met in March of 2006, but we didn’t actually have a conversation until two months later. We share a mutual friend (Andy Katz) who had a Memorial Day BBQ. We bonded over fridge poetry (you know those little magnet words that stick to the fridge). About a month after that, we had our first date.  We’ve been inseparable ever since.

So how we met is an OK story, but how we got engaged is a GREAT story. One Thursday evening in January, Todd came over to Sue’s apartment with a suitcase. The suitcase was filled with magazines, sunblock, bathing suits, and summer clothing he had bought for Sue.  Inside was an itinerary! We were leaving for the Atlantis in the Bahamas the next morning! Todd had arranged with Sue’s boss ahead of time for her to have the Friday and Monday off. The itinerary included swimming with dolphins, trips to the spa, and dinner at fabulous restaurants. Sue jumped up and down for about 15 minutes before calling everyone she could think of to tell them her exciting news. We arrived at the airport in the Bahamas, and a stretch Navigator was waiting to take us to the Cove at Atlantis.  We spent Friday relaxing (Sue had a manicure and pedicure that Todd had arranged) and then went to dinner at Mesa Grill. Saturday, we swam with dolphins, sat in the sun, and then Sue went off for a massage at the spa. When she came back to the room, Todd had decorated it full of roses and candles and pictures. From the balcony, you could see that he had written “will you marry me?” in the sand. Of course, Sue said yes, and well, here we are…
